WASHINGTON — This year's annual meeting of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA; Washington) included a discussion of recent patent legislation intended to tackle several persistent issues, including that of patent trolls. The House of Representatives and the Senate have bills with sharply diverging approaches, but MDMA president/CEO Mark Leahey said there are discussions between members of both parties across both chambers, and that there is a reason to believe that should the Senate pass a bill, "whatever got through the Senate would be the final package."
