Philips launches its first AI-based cognitive assessment product in the U.S.

A neuropsychologist consult is typically the first step for a neurologist in aiding in the diagnosis and monitoring of neurological conditions. But timely appointments for an assessment by these specialists can be difficult to obtain, even under the best of circumstances. To better enable neurologists to assess which patients are most in need of a consultation with a neuropsychologist, Royal Philips NV has launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-based cognitive assessment tool in the U.S. Known as Philips Intellispace Cognition, the digital, cloud-based assessment tool takes established neuropsychological tests and enables their administration by a medical assistant via a tablet in an office setting. Senseonics lowers full-year guidance after dismal Q3

Senseonics Inc., of Germantown, Md., reported gloomy results for its 2019 third quarter, with revenue of $4.3 million, down 17% from the same period last year. The tally also fell far short of the consensus on Wall Street, which estimated third-quarter revenue of $6.07 million. Read More

Uncertainty, lack of tests plague metal sensitivity question

GAITHERSBURG, Md. – The Nov. 13 U.S. FDA hearing on immune response to metal-containing implanted medical devices suggested that there are many more questions than answers about how to prevent the associated adverse events.
