The Department of Justice (DoJ) filed a civil False Claims Act complaint, in conjunction with two whistleblower actions, against Omnicare Inc., of Crystal, Minn., alleging that the pharmaceuticals provider solicited and received millions of dollars in kickbacks from Abbott, of Abbott Park, Ill., in exchange for purchasing and recommending anticonvulsant drug Depakote (valproic acid) for controlling dementia patients in nursing homes it serviced.
