BOSTON The reports of failures associated with the Riata electrophysiology leads made by St. Jude Medical (St. Paul, Minnesota) have driven the bulk of the conversation at this year's edition of the Heart Rhythm Society (Washington) annual scientific sessions, but one presenter, Larry Epstein, pleaded with physicians not to over-react to the news, arguing that the benefit provided by electrophysiology devices far outweighs any harm done by defective leads.
