According to media reports, Medtronic (Minneapolis) has been sued by Medgraph (Rochester, New York) stemming from claims that the device giant violated a patent for a blood-glucose-monitoring system. Medgraph said that Medtronic's CareLink system incorporates its technology.

CareLink allows doctors to monitor patients' conditions and vital signs via the Internet. Medgraph is seeking an order requiring Medtronic to stop its alleged patent infringement and unspecified damages, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.

Medtronic in July extricated itself from a series of stent-related patent suits after a $400 million settlement with Abbott Laboratories (Abbott Park, Illinois) (Medical Device Daily, July 28, 2009).
