Brian Litten has been appointed to the newly created post of vice president, strategic and external affairs, at AmeriHealth New Jersey (Iselin, New Jersey). Litten previously managed the government affairs department at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. AmeriHealth New Jersey provides healthcare coverage to roughly 230,000 residents of the state.

• Haemonetics (Braintree, Massachusetts) said that Brian Concannon will be promoted to the position of president/CEO effective in April 2009, succeeding Brad Nutter. Concannon also will join the Haemonetics board at that time. Nutter will continue as chairman/CEO until April 2009 and thereafter remain as executive chairman of the Haemonetics board. Concannon joined Haemonetics in September 2003 as president of the patient division. Haemonetics makes blood management solutions.

Pete Wehrly has been named president/CEO of Medingo (Yokneam, Israel), effective Nov. 2. Wehrly previously served as a senior VP at Medtronic and president of that company's Spinal & Biologics business. Medingo also named Kim Stebbings VP of marketing. Stebbings most recently was VP of sales and marketing at Anodyne Therapy. Medingo caters specifically to the needs of insulin-dependent diabetic patients.

Robert Kushner, MD, has been named president of the The Obesity Society (Silver Spring, Maryland). Kushner is clinical director of the Northwestern Comprehensive Center on Obesity in Chicago, professor of medicine at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, and author of more than 140 scientific articles on obesity and nutrition. Since 1982, The Obesity Society has committed to encouraging research on the causes and treatment of obesity, and to keeping the medical community and public informed of new advances.
