InteGreat (Pittsburgh), a MED3OOO (also Pittsburgh) company that delivers electronic health record (EHR) technologies to physician groups, reported an extension of a partnership with Nuance Communications (Burlington, Massachusetts), which will allow InteGreat to provide its clients with Dragon Medical 10, real-time medical speech recognition software.

"The agreement continues our ability to provide leading-edge speech recognition applications for our EHR clients," said Jay Anders, MD, MED3OOO chief medical information officer. "The full version capabilities of Dragon Medical will help our physician clients reduce transcription costs and expand the use of their existing EHRs, while allowing clinical documentation to be in the physician's own words."

Dragon Medical 10 is a real-time speech recognition application that provides physicians with the ability to dictate in their own words, generating "once and done" documentation which they can dictate, edit and review in succession.

In other agreements/contracts news, Premier Purchasing Partners (San Diego) said that Abbott Laboratories (Abbott Park, Illinois) has signed an agreement for blood gas analyzers, reagents, consumables and service, joining Instrumentation Laboratory (Lexington, Massachusetts) and Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics (Deerfield, Illinois).

Effective Oct. 1, the 36-month agreements are available to acute-care and continuum-of-care members of the Premier healthcare alliance.
