• James Thrall, MD, has been named chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR; Reston, Virginia) board of chancellors. Thrall is a fellow of the ACR, radiologist-in-chief at Massachusetts General Hospital and a professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School. The ACR is an association serving more than 32,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of radiology and the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services.
• amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research (New York), has named Annette Sohn, MD, as VP for global initiatives and director of TREAT Asia (Therapeutics Research, Education and AIDS Training in Asia). Sohn is an assistant professor in the division of pediatric infectious diseases at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a former member of amfAR's TREAT Asia steering committee, pediatric network and the pediatric HIV observational database working group. amfAR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy.
• Andrew Greenberg was named CEO of Disc Motion Technologies (Boca Raton, Florida). Greenberg previously was director/CFO for Link Spine Group. Disc Motion Technologies makes posterior lumbar-spine joint replacement systems.
• Steve Davis was named interim CEO of the Infectious Disease Research Institute (IDRI; Seattle). Most recently, he was CEO of Corbis. IDRI is a non-profit organization committed to developing technologies to treat "neglected" diseases that place a significant burden on those living in the developing world.
• Elsa Borghi, MD, was named medical director of Nanobiotix (Paris). She previously worked in the R&D oncology department for Sanofi-Aventis. Nanobiotix is an emerging nanomedicine company focused on cancer therapy.
• Robert Tapales has been named VP of operations for VirtualHealth Technologies (Lexington, Kentucky). Tapales previously was COO and EVP of VPS Holdings. VirtualHealth Technologies makes secure integrated technology solutions to the healthcare and regulatory industry.
