Gerald Schroer Jr, president of Absolute Health Services (Canton, Ohio), was elected 2008-2009 chairman of the Ohio Health Care Association (OHCA; Lewis Center, Ohio) at the group's annual convention. Schroer is a licensed Ohio nursing home administrator and has spent his entire career in the family business, according to OHCA. OHCA is an association of more than 700 nursing facilities, assisted living residences and facilities for individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, caring for nearly 74,000 Ohio residents.

• AmerisourceBergen (Valley Forge, Pennsylvania) has unveiled what it terms "a more streamlined organizational structure designed to drive increased efficiency and effectiveness." The changes include: Michael DiCandilo, EVP/CFO, expands his responsibilities with the added position of COO for AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp. (ABDC); Steven Collis, EVP of AmerisourceBergen and president of AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group (ABSG), expands his responsibilities to include supervision of PMSI, the company's workers' compensation business; Terrance Haas, EVP of AmerisourceBergen and chief integration officer, has left the company to pursue other interests; Thomas Murphy, Senior VP/CIO, expands his responsibilities to include the leadership of business transformation, the company's process improvement project. AmerisourceBergen provides drug distribution and related services designed to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes.
