Private equity firm The Carlyle Group (San Francisco) reported the hiring of two new managing directors for the fund and relocating two professionals. Nick Sturiale, previously a general partner at Sevin Rosen Funds in Menlo Park, California, and Greg Rossmann, previously a managing director at Pequot Capital, will join the firm as managing directors. The Carlyle Group has $74.9 billion under management committed to 57 funds.

• HealthTech (the Health Technology Center; San Francisco) said that Stuart Baker, MD, has been named a strategic advisor for innovation and adoption. Baker most recently was COO/executive vice president of VHA Inc. HealthTech is a non-profit research and education organization that provides strategic information and resources to healthcare organizations about the future impact of technology.

Nancy McLane was named senior VP of operations of LifeSync (Fort Lauderdale, Florida). McLane comes to LifeSync after seven years at Cordis. LifeSync is the developer of the LifeSync wireless system, described as the first wireless ECG data communication system appropriate for use in hospital and outpatient settings where cardiac ECG and respiration monitoring are required.

Peter Osborne was named CFO and VP of finance and administration for VNUS Medical Technologies (San Jose, California). Osborne had served as the company’s interim CFO since Oct. 1, 2007. VNUS Medical provides products for the minimally invasive treatment of venous reflux disease.
