iCAD (Nashua, New Hampshire), a provider of computer-aided detection (CAD) systems for the early identification of cancer, reported that Robert Howard, founder and chairman, will retire, effective Nov. 1, 2007, from his position as iCAD’s chairman to devote more time to personal and philanthropic activities.

Howard, chairman since the company was established in 1984, was CEO of the company from February 1984 until December of 1993. Howard also founded and served from 1969 to 1980 as president and chairman of Centronics Data Computer, a manufacturer of a variety of computer printers, including the first impact dot matrix printer, which Howard invented.

“Bob Howard’s ongoing innovation and entrepreneurship is an inspiration to us all,” said Ken Ferry, president/CEO of iCAD. “Thanks to his foresight and dedication, iCAD has become an industry leader in developing and commercializing CAD solutions for the early detection of cancer.”
