The Military Health System (MHS) of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded a four-year, $1.3 million contract extension to SciHealth (Atlanta) for clinical and business intelligence solutions. The contract extends a previous contract through 2011 for implementation of SciHealth solutions across all service branches.

The contract will support implementation of MHS Insight throughout more than 70 hospitals and 400 clinics around the world. Serving over 9 million Americans — Active Duty and Reserve Component service members; military families; retirees, survivors and their families — the MHS has more than 150,000 medical personnel, military and civilian, providing medical services in combat theaters and facilities.

Justin Sweetman of SciHealth said, "Insight provides a unique capability for the field and headquarters by providing a top-down, bottom-up and cross-service communication channel for achieving strategic and tactical goals."

"MHS uses a Balanced Scorecard Methodology and is transforming to a Performance-based environment focusing on results," said Lt. Cmdr. Lisa Lewis, DoD health policy analyst.

SciHealth is a healthcare performance management software company, reporting that it provides solutions to over 300 hospitals.
