Reflect Scientific (Orem, Utah), a manufacturer of scientific equipment and related supplies, reported that Image Labs International (Bozeman, Montana), its wholly owned subsidiary, has been awarded a contract to provide engineered systems to a leading company in the global positioning system (GPS) data collection business.

The value of the contract was not reported.

Image Labs makes scientific equipment in the areas of automated inspection, measurement and material handling. The company operates within capital equipment markets and has been listed on the INC 500 as one of America's fastest growing companies, the company said.

Reflect provides products for the biotech, pharma and medical industries.

In other contract news:

• Emergency Medical Services (Greenwood Village, Colorado) reported that its EmCare business has entered into new agreements to provide radiology staffing and services for two healthcare systems.

EmCare's radiology services operation, RadCare (Dallas, Texas) has entered into a three-year agreement to provide radiology services for Erlanger Health System (Chattanooga, Tennessee). RadCare was one of six providers being considered by Erlanger, the company noted. RadCare will provide radiologist staffing to perform about 300,000 radiology studies a year for several sites. Services are scheduled to begin July 1. Erlanger, a public, not-for-profit system of five hospitals, is a level 1 trauma health system. Founded in 1891, Erlanger Health System is affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

Under a separate agreement, RadCare began providing radiology staffing and services for Alameda County Medical Center (Oakland, California). RadCare's radiologists will perform roughly 80,000 studies a year under the three-year agreement, which went into effect May 1. Alameda County Medical Center operates Highland Hospital and John George Psychiatric Pavilion, as well as facilities providing rehabilitation, long-term care and a wide range of out-patient clinic appointments.

• DialPro Northwest (Seattle), a provider of enterprise voice messaging and communications solutions, said it has been awarded a contract for an emergency event notification (EEN) system by Franciscan Health System (Puget Sound, Washington), a non-profit healthcare organization.

DialPro has installed EEN systems for three hospitals and a community health center that are part of the Franciscan organization and allow ingorganizations to notify pre-selected staff through broadcast messages sent by phone, email, pager or text messaging. The broadcast can take place from any telephone or computer worldwide.

Franciscan, affiliated with Catholic Health Initiatives (Denver) is using the system in two ways: as an EEN system to quickly contact staff in the event of an emergency; and, in a secondary use, as a staffing tool that enabling it to automatically contact replacement staff in the event that an employee calls in sick.

Caregivers at Western Medical Center-Anaheim (Anaheim, California), represented by SEIU United Healthcare Workers-West (UHW), voted to ratify a new contract, ending months of negotiations.

The new 3-year agreement with Integrated Healthcare Holdings (IHH) includes safe staffing committees that give caregivers a real voice in patient care, significant wage increases that bring caregivers closer to industry standards, retiree medical benefits and a jointly funded education program to provide career ladder training opportunities.

The 200 caregivers covered by the contract include nurse assistants, surgical technicians, radiology technologists, and lab assistants, among many others.
