• Michael Benjamin has been appointed president of Honeywell HomMed (Brookfield, Wisconsin). Benjamin was most recently general manager of CAD Implant. HomMed manufactures medical telemonitoring devices for home healthcare.

• Barbara Lawson has been appointed president of The Kidney TRUST (El Segundo, California). Lawson most recently was COO and senior project director at Pangaea Global AIDS Foundation (San Francisco). The Kidney TRUST is a non-profit organization dedicated to chronic kidney disease education.

• Uma Mahesh Babu, PhD, has been named VP, technology and product development at Rapid Pathogen Screening (South Williamsport, Pennsylvania). He has served as a director of R&D at both small and large companies such as Empyrean Diagnostics, ChemTrak and Johnson & Johnson. Rapid Pathogen Screening develops point-of-care diagnostic devices for ocular diseases.

• Gary Sabins has been named president/CEO of Spinal Restoration (Austin, Texas) a privately held, venture-backed med-tech company specializing in the early intervention of chronic back pain. Previously, Sabins was president of Sulzer. Spinal Restoration's first product, the Biostat Disc Augmentation System, will be the subject of an IDE clinical trial expected to begin in early 2008.
