A Medical Device Daily

The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed; Washington) has tapped Christopher White, an attorney with more than 15 years experience in healthcare law, to be the association s new general counsel. Since 2001, White has been a partner in the FDA/Healthcare Regulation Practice of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, an international law firm that concentrates on the legal representation of the life sciences industry.

Chris has a breadth of knowledge of the legal issues affecting the medical technology industry that is second to none, said AdvaMed President Stephen Ubl. His extensive experience in the areas of business, finance, regulation and legislation, among others, will be an invaluable asset to AdvaMed as we promote the industry s agenda on issues such as protection of intellectual property and legal liability reform, as well as our continued efforts to communicate the importance of our Code of Ethics.

As general counsel, White will serve as AdvaMed s chief legal officer, providing counsel on commercial contracts, corporate transactions and regulatory matters. He will also work with the association s legal committee to develop and promote positions on issues impacting patient access to medical technology.

AdvaMed represents manufacturers of medical devices, diagnostic products, and medical information systems. The association s more than 1,300 members and subsidiaries manufacture nearly 90% of the $80 billion of healthcare technology products purchased annually in the U.S., and more than 50% of the $175 billion purchased annually around the world.
