Anthony Curro has joinedCompumedics USA(El Paso, Texas), a division ofCompumedics, as vice president of sales. Curro previously headed the market development group, Northeast region, at Guidant. Compumedics manufactures computer-based patient monitoring and diagnostic systems.

• Gen-Probe (San Diego) reported that Larry Mimms, PhD, who the company said had spearheaded its entry into blood screening and oncology markets, has been promoted to executive vice president, R&D, effective June 20. Mimms replaces Jim Godsey, PhD, who is leaving Gen-Probe to join a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary. Mimms joined Gen-Probe in 1994 as director of R&D. Gen-Probe manufactures nucleic acid tests used to diagnose human diseases and screen donated human blood.

Thomas Schreck has been named CEO of Iken Tissue Therapeutics (San Francisco/Tucson, Arizona). Schreck most recently served as CFO and a director of Durect. Iken develops tissue-based therapies for cardiovascular and vascular indications. Its lead product, Anginera, is an epicardial tissue-based patch for treatment of chronic cardiovascular disease and congestive heart failure.

Kathleen Donovan has been named CFO of MedQuist (Mount Laurel, New Jersey), effective June 27. Donovan most recently was senior vice president and CFO for Dendrite International. MedQuist, a member of the Philips Group, is a provider of electronic medical transcription, health information and document management products and services.
