David Phillips has been appointed vice president of marketing for HemoSense (San Jose, California), responsible for developing marketing initiatives in support of the company's INRatio Prothrombin Time Monitoring System, a system for blood coagulation testing, as it expands in both the point-of-care-testing and patient self-testing markets. Phillips previously was director of marketing for i-STAT, which was acquired by Abbott Diagnostics in early 2004.
Iken Tissue Therapeutics (San Francisco), a developer of tissue-based therapies for cardiovascular and vascular indications, named Deirdre Henry CFO and Michael Flashner, PhD, vice president, medical and regulatory affairs. Before joining Iken, Henry was CFO of Neomorphic. Most recently, Flashner was vice president, immunology and anti-infective therapeutic groups at Quintiles. Iken Tissue Therapeutics' lead product, Anginera, is an epicardial, tissue-based patch therapy designed to promote angiogenesis and arteriogenesis.
