Applied Medical (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) said it has completed a planned expansion of its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities with the addition of a fourth building, expanding distribution operations.

Last year Applied Medical purchased its two-building corporate headquarters complex and completed the construction of a third facility dedicated to advanced manufacturing processes for plastics and metals.

These recent facility expansions, completed within one year of the company's award of two national group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts – with Premier Purchasing Partners (San Diego) and MedAssets Supply Chain Systems (St. Louis) – continue Applied's growth plan, it said.

The company also was recently awarded a GPO contract with Novation (Irving, Texas) as one of its suppliers for trocars, endoscopic instruments and ligation.

Applied Medical said those three group purchasing organizations represent more than 65% of the hospital market for these devices.
