William Bednarski has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Minrad International (Buffalo, New York), a manufacturer of acute-care devices and pharmaceuticals. He joins the company from the Nellcor division of Tyco International, where he held the position of vice president of OEM and licensing technology.

Wally Pellerite has joined Quintiles Consulting (Vernon Hills, Illinois) as director of strategic compliance. He spent more than 30 years at the FDA, most recently in the Office of Compliance in the Center for Device and Radiological Health. He will assist Quintiles Consulting clients in interpreting and responding to FDA enforcement and compliance initiatives.

• SonoSite (Bothell, Washington), a developer of hand-carried ultrasound systems, named Anne Bugge vice president, corporate affairs, and John Lowell vice president, operations. Bugge served as vice president, corporate and investor relations for ATL Ultrasound, and most recently with the EVC Group, an investor and corporate communications firm. Lowell was employed by ATL Ultrasound from 1989 to 1996 in a number of positions, and most recently served as vice president of engineering and operations for Heater Craft.
