China Approves Ecogen Bioinsecticides

Ecogen Inc. announced it has received a new product registration from the People'sRepublic of China to market two formulations of the company's Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)-basedbioinsecticides, Condor and Cutlass.

Ecogen's (NASDAQ:EECN) marketing partner in China, Roussel-Uclaf, will sell theproducts under its brand names EcoTech Pro and EcoTech Bio, respectively.

EcoTech Pro, an oil flowable formulation of Condor, will be used primarily to protectvegetables from diamondback moths, a significant pest throughout Asia.

“China is a key country in our global strategy,“ explained John Davies, chiefexecutive officer of Ecogen of Langhorne, Pa.

“China is the 14th largest consumer of agricultural chemicals in the world, withconsumption of insecticides totaling more than $350 million,“ Davies added.
