Cytogen Corp. said it is funding early clinical studies byImperial Cancer Research Technology (ICRT) Ltd. of fivemonoclonal antibody conjugate products for the diagnosis ofbreast, ovarian and prostate cancers. The company(NASDAQ:CYTO) said results of these pilot trials are expected tocontribute to improvements in agents currently in clinicals inthe U.S.

The studies will be conducted at St. Bartholomew's Hospital inLondon. A Phase II trial of one of the ovarian cancerantibodies has been completed in the U.S.

Four of the antibodies were originally developed by London-based ICRT's parent company, Imperial Cancer Research Fund(ICRF), which licensed them to Unipath Ltd., a subsidiary ofUnilever plc. In February, Unipath gave Cytogen exclusiverights to the antibodies, plus rights to an antibody it haddeveloped.

Under the agreement, Cytogen of Princeton, N.J., will transferits novel, proprietary technetium-linking technology to ICRF forevaluation of the linker and selected antibody-linkerconjugates.-- Brenda Sandburg
