Applied Imaging Corp. of Santa Clara, Calif., on Tuesdayannounced it has acquired the Scientific Instruments Divisionof Joyce-Loebl, a British firm, for an undisclosed sum. Thedivision's products include microdensitometers and digitaldensitometers; image analysis systems for cytogenetics,molecular and cellular biology; and other lab instruments.Joyce-Loebl is based in Newcastle, United Kingdom.
Combined revenues of Applied and the Scientific InstrumentsDivision should be in the $10 million to $15 million range for1991, said Stephen Rudy, vice president of marketing atApplied. The privately held firm was profitable in 1990 andexpects to be so again this year, Rudy said.
