Epimab licenses BCMA bispecific to startup Vignette in $635M deal

In a deal that brings $60 million in cash and equity up front, plus up to $575 million in milestone payments, Shanghai-based Epimab Biotherapeutics Inc. and San Diego-based Vignette Bio Inc. entered a licensing agreement for Epimab’s BCMA-targeting T-cell engager, EMB-06, for autoimmune disease.

Positive data from Novo Nordisk A/S’s pivotal phase IIIa study of once-weekly and once-monthly doses of its hemophilia treatment, Mim8, are prompting the company to say it will submit the first regulatory approval request toward the end of this year. It could challenge Roche Holding AG’s Hemlibra (emicizumab), a bispecific factor IXa- and factor X-directed antibody for hemophilia A, that was approved in 2017 by the U.S. FDA.

Celltrion, Cyron ink $882M deal for polyspecific antibodies

South Korean pharmaceuticals Celltrion Inc. and Cyron Therapeutics Co. Ltd. are teaming up to discover and develop bispecific and trispecific antibodies, collectively called polyspecific antibodies, under the ₩1.158 trillion (US$882.38 million) joint research agreement inked on Dec. 6. Under the terms, privately held Daegu-based Cyron will discover and develop at least three polyspecific antibodies for blood and solid cancers pre-selected by Incheon-based Celltrion via Cryon’s CD-3 targeting T-cell engager platform that helps engage T cells to attack cancer cells.
