Healiva SA, a Swiss wound care specialist, emerged from stealth mode having acquired two cell therapy assets from Smith & Nephew plc. Financial terms were not disclosed, but they included an up-front payment as well as “deferred benefits,” Healiva CEO and founder Priyanka Dutta-Passecker told BioWorld. The deal means that the Lugano-based company – which was formed in 2020 – could be booking revenues as early as 2023.

Mindmaze SA continued to add significant funds to its coffers with $105 million as part of a series B financing round, following a $125 million debt financing in October. Swiss spinal surgery company Neo Medical SA has closed a $20.6 million financing round led by Swisscom Ventures. The funds will be used for U.S. commercialization of the company’s Advise augmented reality (AR) platform for spinal surgery. The platform is due to launch this year and will complement Neo Medical’s existing implant and instrument solutions. “The funds will be used for recruitment of sales direct sales force, training and education activities in the U.S. as well as U.S. scientific and clinical activities,” Neo Medical CEO Vincent Lefauconnier told BioWorld. “In 2022, we will see some key scientific and clinical work being published showing the massive benefit for patient of the use of our unique combination of technologies.”

Mindmaze SA raised $125 million in a debt financing round led by Albacore Capital Group to expand its virtual reality-based digital neurotherapeutics platform. Total funding for Mindmaze now exceeds $235.7 million to date. Investors include the Hinduja Group, Venture Kick, the Foundation for Technological Innovation, and Leonardo DiCaprio. The Mindmaze platform assesses and restores cognitive and motor function in individuals who have sustained neural injuries or impairment from degeneration and aging.
