Researchers from the Mayo Clinic reported the potential of targeting DLL3 as a therapeutic strategy in MTC.

In a recent publication, researchers from The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University (China) and collaborators investigated the association between phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) expression in thyroid cancer tissues and clinicopathological features, postoperative recurrence and prognosis in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). These observations may help advance clinical assessment and provide references for intervention strategies.

Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is a rare but aggressive form of thyroid cancer, accounting for nearly 50% of thyroid cancer-related deaths. Given its poor prognosis, the identification of new therapeutic strategies is a critical medical need. Molecular radiotherapy is an emerging field in oncology, and CD44v6, a cell surface antigen overexpressed in several cancers, has been proposed as a promising target for ATC treatment.

This highlights the need for new therapeutic strategies to treat these thyroid tumors. Veracyte Inc. revealed plans to buy C2i Genomics Inc. at the J.P. Morgan Health Care Conference in San Francisco on Jan. 8, a move that will significantly expand its portfolio of cancer diagnostic and monitoring assays. The terms include $70 million in Veracyte shares to be paid at closing plus an addition $25 million payable in cash or Veracyte shares over the next two years if C2i achieves certain performance milestones.
