Eluminex raises $40M series B for biosynthetic cornea, ophthalmology pipeline

Ophthalmic startup Eluminex Biosciences Ltd. closed a $40 million series B round to progress its pipeline of ophthalmic assets and recombinant human collagen technology. Eluminex’s pipeline includes multi-targeted antibody molecules for vision-threatening retinal diseases and an oral small molecule for rare inherited pediatric retinal dystrophies, but its lead asset, EB-301, is a biosynthetic cornea derived from recombinant human type III collagen.

‘Rip’ it up and start again: Halda Therapeutics unveils Riptac platform, $76M investment

A preclinical data presentation at the American Society of Clinical Oncology Genitourinary Cancers Symposium later this week has prompted Halda Therapeutics Inc. to emerge from stealth and unveil its novel Riptac (Regulated Induced Proximity Targeting Chimera) platform for creating heterobifunctional small molecules designed to kill cancer cells selectively. The New Haven, Conn.-based company has been quietly refining the technology since its formation in 2019 and has already secured $76 million in series A and B rounds.

Cerevance expands series B financing to advance therapeutics for CNS diseases

Cerevance Inc. has expanded its series B financing with an additional close of US$51 million, bringing the total series B financing to US$116 million. The proceeds will be used to advance Cerevance's therapeutics for central nervous system (CNS) diseases developed using its proprietary Nuclear Enriched Transcript Sort sequencing (Netsseq) platform.

The science that led Garuda Therapeutics Inc. to a $62 million series B financing was a combination of hard work, luck and serendipity, according to co-founder and CEO Dhvanit Shah. At the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, Shah and his fellow researchers found that endothelial cells go through significant modifications before becoming hematopoietic stem cells. That simple discovery, as Shah told BioWorld, brought on research leading to the possibility that patients would not need a marrow donor before receiving a stem cell treatment.
