An FDA advisory committee gave Abbott Vascular, a unit of Abbott Park, Ill.-based Abbott Laboratories, a huge win for its Absorb bioresorbable stent, voting nine in favor and none opposed that the benefits of the device outweigh the risks. Among the factors that helped drive panelists was patient preference, a force the FDA itself is wary of thwarting when it comes to approval of therapies.
