At less than one tenth the size of a conventional pacemaker and requiring no leads, the Micra Transcatheter Pacing System (TPS) by Medtronic plc has demonstrated good safety over the long term. Data from the Medtronic Micra TPS Global Clinical Trial, a prospective multicenter study (n=725) recently presented at the 2016 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) congress in Rome, demonstrated that the risk for major complications remains low.
