Researchers have defined five categories of diabetes patients, rather than the longstanding basic division into type 1 and type 2. That is an advance that could better enable health care providers to both combat the most aggressive forms of the disease as well as to help equip them to guide early treatment and prevention efforts in the lowest risk populations.

An IPO for the health care business of Munich, Germany-based Siemens AG has been a long-time coming. Almost three years ago in May 2014, the German conglomerate laid out a five year plan to get it through 2020. Researchers have found that circulating tumor cells (CTCs) that go on to create metastases to spread cancer throughout the body may have particular polarity.
