Nuvasive, Siemens partner for novel surgical tech integrations for spine procedures

Minimally invasive spine surgery player Nuvasive Inc. has partnered with imaging giant Siemens Healthineers AG to develop new approaches to integrating the 3D imaging, navigation and surgical automation used in spine surgery. Senseonics launches implantable CGM in U.S.

Senseonics Holdings Inc. launched its 90-day implantable continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system in the U.S. Starting July 31, it has been injecting its sensors in the market for U.S. patients. Now, Senseonics needs to secure its reimbursement pathway, which may differ from more established wearable CGM competitors Abbott Laboratories and Dexcom Inc.

Boston Sci to pay up to $160M for portfolio stent startup Venitiv

Peripheral stent startup Veniti Inc. is being acquired by Boston Scientific Corp., its investor and partner, for up to $160 million. Once complete, this will be the seventh acquisition by the Marlborough, Mass.-based medical device company has made so far this year – a pace that far outstrips its typical rate of two or three purchases per year.

Hologic buys Faxitron for $85M to add high-end digital radiography for biopsy, imaging

Women's health company Hologic Inc. has acquired Faxitron Bioptics LLC for about $85 million. The Tucson, Ariz.-based startup developed the first digital radiography systems for breast biopsy and medical imaging applications. It has an existing installed base of more than 8,000 systems in life sciences labs, including the top 10 U.S. cancer centers.
