Cellusion raises $9.5M to support ocular cell therapy

Cellusion Inc. recently closed a ¥1.1 billion ($9.5 million) financing, bringing its total 2021 fundraising to ¥1.7 billion. The company is preparing to enter the clinic with CL-S001, its corneal endothelial substitute cell candidate for treating corneal edema due to endothelial dysfunction, or bullous keratopathy.

Prism offers Genentech peptide mimetic small-molecules library for multitarget collaboration

Prism Biolab Co. Ltd. has added Genentech Inc., a unit of Roche Holding AG, to the list of users for its peptide mimetic small-molecules library after signing a multitarget research collaboration and licensing agreement. Under the agreement, Tokyo-based Prism Biolab will open its Pepmetics Library, a library of peptide mimetic small molecules, to screen against targets selected by Roche and Genentech.

Legochem licenses out ADC to Iksuda in $1B deal

Legochem Biosciences Inc. has licensed out its antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) LCB-14 to Iksuda Therapeutics Ltd. in the duo’s latest deal that is worth $1 billion. Daejeon, South Korea-based Legochem will receive $50 million in an up-front payment and near-term milestones, and up to $950 million in developments, regulatory and commercial milestones.

Cansino partners with Aerogen for inhalable COVID vaccine

Cansino Biologics Inc. has entered a development and commercial supply partnership with Aerogen Ltd. for an inhalable version of its COVID-19 vaccine, Convidecia, also known as Ad5-nCoV. Cansino will combine Convidecia with Aerogen’s vibrating mesh aerosol drug delivery technology to produce a consistent droplet size for optimal lung deposition. The technology delivers up to six times more medication to the lungs compared to jet nebulizers. It also enables consistency and drug denaturing to improve efficacy. Cansino and Aerogen did not disclose the deal’s commercial terms.
