CMR Surgical hauls in $200M to take surgical robot to the US

CMR Surgical Ltd. secured more than $200 million in funding to bring its surgical robotic system, Versius, to the U.S. market and expand elsewhere. The financing, which came in the form of equity and debt, is “highly important” for the company and comes at the right time as it is “expanding and growing nicely,” company CEO Massimiliano Colella told BioWorld.

Quantum Surgical awarded FDA clearance for abdominal cancer robot

Quantum Surgical SAS has obtained an extension to the FDA authorization covering its Epione robot, which can now treat abdominal cancers. “This decision now allows physicians to treat all abdominal tumors at an early stage and will ramp implementation of our Epione robotics solution in the U.S.,” said Bertin Nahum, CEO and co-founder of Quantum Surgical. Marketed in Europe and the U.S., the Epione robot has already been used to treat more than 150 patients with liver or kidney cancer.

Quantum raises $48M to commercialize surgical robotics in liver cancer

PARIS – Quantum Surgical SAS has closed $48 million in funding to finance the commercial launch of its integrated robotics platform for percutaneous treatment in liver cancer. The round was led by Hong Kong-based Ally Bridge Group who invested $24 million, or half the total amount raised. Three banks also participated in this funding round: The European Investment Bank, Bpifrance and Caisse d’Epargne Languedoc Roussillon.
