New data on the COVID-19 antibody therapy Ronapreve (casirivimab + imdevimab), already used to treat non-hospitalized patients in multiple countries, could potentially support expanding its use to certain recently hospitalized patients with the disease.
With the U.S. logging more than 4 million new COVID-19 cases in the past few weeks, federal purchasing of antibody cocktails from Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Eli Lilly and Co. is continuing to grow. The government has placed orders for $2.94 billion worth of Regeneron's REGEN-COV (casirivimab and imdevimab) and about $330 million of Lilly's etesevimab to complement doses of bamlanivimab it previously purchased. Both antibody combinations, approved under FDA emergency use authorizations (EUAs), have been shown to reduce risk of hospitalization or death from COVID-19.

DUBLIN – Glaxosmithkline plc and Anaptysbio Inc. were able to get over some of the disappointment arising from a delayed FDA decision on their PD-1 inhibitor, dostarlimab, earlier this month, as the EMA came through Feb. 26 with a positive recommendation for the drug in endometrial cancers that are deficient in DNA mismatch repair or that are categorized as having high microsatellite instability.

Antibody development for treating COVID-19 continues producing positive results, the latest being from Eli Lilly and Co.’s bamlanivimab (LY-CoV-555), which reduced nursing home residents’ risk of contracting symptomatic COVID-19 by 80%, according to new data from its phase III Blaze-2 study.
An antibody cocktail developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. has received emergency use authorization (EUA) from the FDA for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19. Monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) such as Regeneron's, called casirivimab and imdevimab, "have the greatest benefit when given early after diagnosis and in patients who have not yet mounted their own immune response or who have high viral load," the company said.
