Nyra Medical lands $20M for mitral valve repair solution

Structural heart startup Nyra Medical Inc. scooped up $20 million in a series A round co-led by Vensana Capital and a large, unnamed global medical device company. One X-ray predicts MACE risk; steroids reduce pain, increase damage in knee osteoarthritis

The ability to inexpensively predict events such as stroke and heart attack is something of a holy grail for cardiologists, and a new study presented at this year’s annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North American (RSNA) provides just that capability. A study of an algorithm developed to examine a single chest X-ray suggests that the data generated by the algorithm can be as effective in establishing the patient’s risk of these events as a standard approach that relies on information that isn’t always readily available to the clinician. Uromems initiates first-in-human study of its smart implant for treating SUI

Uromems SAS reported the successful completion of the first-in-human implant of a smart, automated artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) device for treating stress urinary incontinence (SUI). This initial pilot study recently saw the first male patient implanted with the Uroactive System at Paris’s La Pitié-Salpêtrière University Hospital and is considered by the company to be a key milestone in the technology’s development. Lepu Medical’s micro-guidewire is approved for FFR measurement

Lepu Medical Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd. has been given the green light from China’s NMPA for its disposable micro-guidewire. Beijing, China-based Lepu Medical confirmed to BioWorld that this micro-guidewire was approved for fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurements in adult patients with coronary artery lesions during coronary angiography and interventional procedures. GE sets date for spin-off of GE Healthcare

The board of General Electric Co. officially approved the tax-free spin-off of the company’s health care business, which will be called GE Healthcare Technologies Inc. The new company will begin trading on the Nasdaq on Jan. 4, 2023, under the ticker symbol “GEHC.” Read More
