Janus Development Group (Greenville, North Carolina), a provider of assistive living technology including the SpeechEasy electronic fluency device, has appointed Alan Newton as the company's new president. Retiring President Darwin Richards, who led Janus Development Group since it was founded in 2000, will continue to serve the company as a senior advisor. Newton, formerly the SpeechEasy division vice president, joined Janus in 2002 with management expertise in supply chains, distribution and operations.

Michael Frazzette has been named president of Smith & Nephew 's (Andover, Massachusetts) Endoscopy division, and appointed as a member of Smith & Nephew's Group executive committee. Most recently he served as president and CEO of MicroGroup. Frazzette replaces former division president Jim Taylor, who left the company earlier this year to pursue other business opportunities. Smith & Nephew is a global medical technology business, specializing in endoscopy, orthopedic reconstruction, orthopedic trauma and advanced wound management products.
