Inc. and Zeneca Plant Science, ofDelaware, have won clearance from the U.S. Department ofAgriculture for their genetically engineered tomato, which has beenmodified to suppress ripening. The tomato has been altered to inhibitthe enzyme, polygalacturonase, which is involved in breaking downpectin during fruit ripening. The FDA cleared the tomato inNovember. Zeneca Plant Science is a subsidiary of U.K.-basedZeneca Group plc.

* Zynaxis Inc., of Malvern, Pa., sold rights to its cell trackingreagents to Phanos Technologies Inc., of Beverly Hills, Calif., for$1.1 million plus a multi-year manufacturing agreement and royaltieson sales of the research and diagnostic molecules.
