Sellas acquires rights to develop Genfleet’s CDK9 inhibitor in $150M deal

There’s a growing renewal of interest in CDK9 as a therapeutic target, including by two companies adding to the momentum with a $150 million deal. Sellas Life Sciences Group and Genfleet Therapeutics Inc. entered an exclusive license agreement granting Sellas rights to develop and commercialize the small molecule CDK9 inhibitor GFH-009 outside mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

Innovent wins sole rights to commercialize two Lilly oncology drugs in $45M deal

Innovent Biologics Inc. has acquired exclusive rights to commercialize Eli Lilly and Co.’s oncology drugs Cyramza (ramucirumab) and Retsevmo (selpercatinib) in mainland China, where it will be responsible for the pricing, importation, marketing, distribution and sales of the two products.

The deal that could bring IGM Biosciences Inc. more than $6 billion is 2022’s largest and cracks the BioWorld top 10 list as the ninth biggest ever. Sanofi SA and IGM agreed to develop, manufacture and commercialize immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody agonists in treating cancer and immunology/inflammation targets. IGM is getting $150 million up front once the deal closes, which the company expects to happen in the second quarter of 2022.

Roche Diagnostics International Ltd. is joining forces with Bristol Myers Squibb Co. (BMS) to develop two new digital pathology algorithms to support cancer assay use in clinical trials. Roche Digital Pathology will create an artificial intelligence (AI) based image analysis algorithm to assist pathologists in interpreting the company’s FDA-approved Ventana D-L1 (SP142) assay for urothelial carcinoma patients. BMS will use the algorithm to generate biomarker data from clinical trial samples.

Astrazeneca signs digital health deal with UK startup Huma Therapeutics

Astrazeneca plc is selling its disease management platform Amaze to U.K. digital therapeutics company Huma Therapeutics Ltd. through a new collaboration agreement. The companies said they will work together to launch Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) companion apps for several therapeutic areas and accelerate adoption of decentralized clinical trials (DCTs). The partnership marks Astrazeneca’s first major deal in the digital health space.

Nuance Pharma Co. Ltd. signed a licensing deal with Denmark’s Bavarian Nordic A/S for rights to its MVA-BN RSV vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South Korea and certain Southeast Asian countries. Shanghai-based Nuance plans to run its own phase I and phase III trials in China to support regulatory approval of MVA-BN RSV in China, which will be conducted separately from Bavarian Nordic's own phase III trial planned to begin in the first half of 2022.
