Beta Bionics targets IPO of up to $120M

Beta Bionics Inc. kicked off the new year with plans for an initial public offering of 7.5 million shares “as soon as practicable.” Expected to be priced at $14 to $16 per share, the IPO would gross $105 million to $120 million for the insulin delivery device maker.

Arctic Therapeutics explores Alzheimer’s with $28M series A

Icelandic genomics company Arctic Therapeutics has closed a €26.5 million (US$27.6 million) series A, enabling it to assess if its lead drug AT-001, designed to treat a rare inherited amyloid disease, also could be used to treat more common forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. The program is currently in a phase IIb/III European trial in cystatin C amyloid angiopathy, an ultra-rare disease found only in Iceland that is caused by the L68Q mutation in the cystatin C gene.

While Moderna Inc. plans to cut its expenses by $1 billion in 2025, the company has received a little breathing room by a hefty U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grant. The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority awarded Moderna roughly $590 million to support late-stage development of its mRNA-based avian-variant vaccines and to increase the number of clinical trials for another five additional subtypes of pre-pandemic influenza.
