Ocular gene therapy specialist Pulsesight Therapeutics SAS has launched with seed funding and is raising a series A to take forward two programs using electroporation to deliver plasmid DNA in the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration and geographic atrophy.

Startup Brightheart SAS raised €2 million (US$2.14 million) in seed financing, from Sofinnova Partners, that will allow the company to accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence software, which helps physicians detect congenital heart defects in fetuses. Brightheart hopes that the technology will improve the detection of complex congenital heart defects during prenatal ultrasound screening as intervening early could address fetal malformations or abnormalities and improve a baby’s chance of survival.

The precision medicine test is designed to detect Barrett’s esophagus (BE) and predict which BE patients will progress to esophageal cancer.
Mvision AI Oy raised €5.4 million (US$5.8 million) in a post seed funding round to help accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered automatic segmentation software, which automates and standardizes radiotherapy treatment for patients. Mvision aims to make same day cancer treatment a standard globally. The funding was led by J12 Ventures and Voima Ventures.
Previa Medical SA will begin clinical trials later this year of its artificial intelligence software designed for early detection of sepsis after it raised €2.1 million (US $2.2 million) in seed funds.
Axoft Inc. emerged from stealth mode with an $8 million seed round led by The Engine, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s venture spinout for early-stage tech startups. The funds will be used to conduct preclinical studies and scale up prototypes of its supple brain implant technology.
Startup Curimeta Inc. emerged from stealth with $6 million in seed financing led by Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and BJC Healthcare, a St. Louis-based nonprofit health care system. Cultivation Capital Healthcare Innovation Fund also participated in the round.
Monod Bio Inc. raised a $25 million seed financing round to advance its protein-based biosensor technology. The round was led by Matrix Capital, with participation from the Global Health Investment Corp., Cercano Management, the Washington Research Foundation, Boom Capital Ventures, Sahsen Ventures, and Pack Ventures. The funds will be used to create protein biosensors for rapid point-of-care medical diagnostics and biotechnology applications.
