With $200M in new financing, Edge Medical looks to growing surgical robot market

A successful fundraising round by a Chinese surgical robot developer last week underscored the potentially fast growth of a sector that remains underdeveloped in China. Chinese surgical robot company Edge Medical Robotics Co. Ltd. raised $200 million in a series C round, and plans to use the funds for the commercialization of its core products.

Quanta raises $60M series C to support preclinical RAF1- and KRAS-targeting candidates

Quanta Therapeutics Inc., a company developing therapies for RAS-driven cancers, closed $60 million in series C financing led by Surveyor Capital and Vida Ventures. The South San Francisco-based company said it would use proceeds from the financing to advance oncology-focused programs targeting RAF1 and KRAS through clinical candidate selection, IND filing and on to initial proof of concept.

Cambrian plans to use its $100M series C to fight age-related diseases

When James Peyer, Cambrian Biopharma Inc.’s CEO, watched his grandfather fail every cancer treatment and eventually pass away, he came to a realization that now forms the backbone of his company. “The more I learned about cancer, the more convinced I became that we were approaching cancer as a disease in the wrong way,” Peyer told BioWorld. “We were waiting until people were sick and only then doing something about it.” Cambrian just closed on an oversubscribed series C that brought in $100 million to develop a pipeline of therapies designed to treat and prevent age-related diseases.

Nectero Medical Inc. has secured $19.5 million in a series C financing round, led by Boston Scientific Corp. The company is developing the Endovascular Aortic Stabilization Treatment (EAST) system, a treatment platform that reduces the growth rate of aortic aneurysms. EAST is currently in a multisite phase I safety study for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) patients and the financing will be used to fund further in vivo and clinical development.

Singapore startup Doctor Anywhere banks $88M for telehealth expansion

Health-tech startup Doctor Anywhere Ltd. (DA) has raised $88 million in series C fundraising, as the telehealth sector continues to be attractive for investors. The round is one of the largest private investments ever raised by a Southeast Asian digital health company and was led by growth equity investor Asia Partners. Novo Holdings, Philips, OSK-SBI Venture Partners, EDBI, Square Peg, IHH Healthcare, Kamet Capital and Pavilion Capital also participated.
