Cmr sets European private funding record for med-tech company with $240M series C

LONDON – Cmr Surgical Ltd. has again broken the record for a private financing round for a European med-tech company, raising £195 million (US$240 million) in a series C that will fund global commercialization of its portable robotic surgery system, Versius. Since the record-breaking series B in May 2018, when it raised $100 million, Cmr has set up offices in four continents and completed 30 first-in-human procedures. Currently, there are no commercial users, but the company now employs more than 400 people.

Quanta scoops up £38M to back launch, submission

LONDON – Quanta Dialysis Technologies Ltd. has raised £38 million (US$46.7 million) in the first close of a series C round, to fund a U.S. FDA 510(k) submission and U.K. commercial launch of its SC+ home hemodialysis system. With the cash now in hand, both these events are due to occur before the end of 2019. "We've got a lot of work to do," said John Milad, CEO of Quanta. "This is the rocket fuel."

Revolution Medicines Inc., a California-based company developing a small-molecule inhibitor of SHP2 in partnership with Sanofi SA and other programs targeting mutant forms of the key signaling protein RAS, has raised a $100 million series C equity financing led by Boxer Capital LLC, an investment firm funded by British businessman Joe Lewis' Tavistock Group, which has backed financings of companies including G1 Therapeutics Inc., Kura Oncology Inc. and, more recently, Encoded Therapeutics Inc.

Healthverity nabs $25M for health care data platform

Philadelphia-based Healthverity Inc. reported it closed a $25 million series C investment round led by existing investor Foresite Capital. Other major investors included Flare Capital Partners and Greycroft. The new investments bring Healthverity's total venture capital funding to $42.3 million and will be used to further develop the company's health care data platform and expand its marketing.
