LONDON – Lava Therapeutics BV has raised $83 million in a series C round, enabling it to begin clinical trials of its bispecific gamma-delta T-cell engager technology, in both a hematologic and a solid tumor indication in 2021.

Biofourmis Inc. scooped up $100 million in a series C round that was led by Softbank Vision Fund 2. The funds are earmarked to accelerate U.S. and global expansion of Biofourmis’ artificial intelligence (AI)-powered health analytics platform and to advance its pipeline of digital therapeutics. The company focuses software-based therapeutics and AI tools for personal predictive care and has U.S. FDA-cleared products that aim to boost clinicians’ ability to remotely monitor and treat patients.

DUBLIN – Liquid biopsy developer Freenome Inc. has – literally – capitalized on its recent proof-of-concept AI-Emerge colorectal cancer (CRC) screening study by raising $270 million in a series C round that will enable the South San Francisco firm to complete its ongoing Preempt CRC registration study and to file for pre-market approval from the FDA.

Kinnate Biopharma Inc., a San Diego-based company focused on the discovery and development of small-molecule kinase inhibitors for genomically defined cancers, has raised $98 million in a series C financing.

Practice growth platform Patientpop scooped up $50 million in a series C financing led by HLM Venture Partners. The new funds are earmarked for telehealth and virtual care solutions to help private practices adapt to a rapidly health care environment and the challenges of seeing and treating patients during a global pandemic.

Informed Data Systems Inc. (IDS), doing business as One Drop, scooped up $98.7 million in new financing and commitments to accelerate the expansion of its digital health platform beyond diabetes. The company raised $34.7 million in a series C round led by Bayer AG, of Leverkusen, Germany. Bayer also committed $64 million in development fees and commercial milestones related to a 2019 licensing agreement to leverage the One Drop solution across multiple therapeutic areas.

Startup Conformal Medical Inc. has reeled in $85 million in a series C round to support a U.S. pivotal trial of its CLAAS technology, a device designed to seal off the heart’s left atrial appendage (LAA) to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. The financing included participation from new investors Fidelity Management & Research Company LLC and an undisclosed strategic investor.

Medical holograph company Realview Imaging Ltd. has raised a $10 million series C round to enable it to market its first product, Holoscope-i, which offers real-time, 3D holographic images based on any volumetric imaging data during minimally invasive procedures.

LONDON – Swiss startup T3 Pharma AG has raised CHF25 million (US$26.7 million) in a series C round, to fund a 100-patient phase I/II study of its live bacteria cancer immunotherapy.
