LAS VEGAS Founded 51 years ago, the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS; Chicago) is a not-for-profit organization exclusively focused on the optimal use of information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. Fifty-one years ago it was inconceivable to think that almost all medical technology would be captured and delivered wirelessly, archived in a cloud, and interconnected to coding, billing, the laboratory, radiology, and pretty much the entire spectrum of hospital departments as well as remote care facilities.
