AI-focused Deepcell raises $20M in series A

Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered cell capture startup Deepcell Inc. scooped up $20 million in a series A round led by Bow Capital. The funds are earmarked for developing the company’s microfluidics-based technology, building out a cell morphology atlas of more than 400 million cells and advancing a hypothesis-free approach to cell classification and sorting. Future of telehealth appears bright as restrictions loosen, funding flows in

While telehealth has been gaining traction over the last few years, the COVID-19 pandemic really shined a spotlight on this rapidly rising space. In July, Globaldata predicted that the telehealth industry likely would reach $20 billion by 2024, boosted by a loosening of restrictions. Indeed, an Oct. 30 CDC report highlighted a 154% increase in telehealth visits during the last week of March vs. the same period in 2019. The authors added that policy changes could help boost access to care via telehealth during and after the pandemic. Read More

Airehealth breathes easier with FDA 510(k) clearance of connected nebulizer

Airehealth Inc.'s management took a deep breath on hearing that the company's Vitalmed nebulizer received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance after waiting nearly 11 months. The portable, electronic, vibrating mesh nebulizer will connect to the Orlando, Fla.-based company's diary companion app early next year as part of an integrated suite of products designed to help individuals with chronic respiratory issues track symptoms and better manage their care.
