Scientists from the Israeli Tel Aviv University have reported that metabolites can form amyloid fibrils. Though the beta-amyloids of Alzheimer's disease are the most famous amyloid fibrils, technically speaking, any normally soluble proteins that aggregate into insoluble clumps are amyloids.
