• Illumina (San Diego) has introduced the Illumina CSPro program for sequencing. This new extension to the program allows organizations with the Illumina Genome Analyzer to become certified in order to provide a range of sequencing-based genetic analysis services. Illumina claims the CSPro is the only program of its kind to offer a collaborative partnership that includes co-marketing benefits with a certification process designed to help ensure delivery of the highest data quality available for genetic analysis applications. Illumina is currently certifying additional CSPro providers in North America, Europe and Asia.

• Medegen (Ontario, California) has received FDA clearance for its new MaxGuard advanced luer activated device featuring Agion antimicrobial technology. MaxGuard is a positive displacement needleless connector that features impregnation of the antimicrobial additive into each of the components of the device. Laboratory testing has demonstrated this new antimicrobial device exhibits a kill rate of greater than 99.99%. MaxGuard is an enhancement of the MaxPlus Clear, Medegen's leading positive displacement connector. It features the company's positive displacement technology, which provides a bolus of fluid to clear the catheter tip upon disconnection from the device. Also featured is its Tru-Swab top, which acts as a double seal barrier to contamination and allows for true disinfection during pre-access swabbing. The translucent housing provides for visualization of the fluid path allowing for complete flushing of the device.

• Positron (Houston) said it will market its complete turnkey offering of radiopharmaceuticals, camera service and imaging for a total solution to customers under the name PosiRx. The company says this offering includes financing and partnership flexibility by providing imaging providers the choice of radiopharmaceuticals, radiopharmaceutical dispensing systems, molecular imaging devices, and equipment service directly from Positron. Customers can choose all services as a complete package or individual parts that suit their needs.
