Juniper acquires infigratinib rights from Helsinn in emerging markets

Juniper Biologics Pte. Ltd. has added another candidate to its pipeline in the space of less than a month. In the latest deal, the Singapore-based company inked an exclusive licensing agreement with Switzerland’s Helsinn Healthcare SA, gaining rights to develop and commercialize oncology drug infigratinib in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and certain markets in the Middle East and Africa.

Genfit SA’s global development and commercialization deal with Ipsen Pharma SA for phase III-stage elafibranor in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) – plus a separate arrangement for rights to an asset earlier in development from Genoscience Pharma SA – represent “the logical next steps in the implementation of a strategy that we outlined to you about 18 months ago,” Genfit CEO Pascal Prigent said during a conference call with investors.

Relay’s interim data shows RLY-4008 selectively inhibits FGFR2

A lack of toxicity and the shrinking of tumors were at the heart of new interim data produced from a two-stage phase II study by Relay Therapeutics Inc. The company reported that the oral small molecule RLY-4008, designed to elicit responses across a broad spectrum of resistance mutations and in multiple tumor types, selectively inhibited fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) 2 in ways that are not limited by off-target toxicities of hyperphosphatemia (FGFR1) and diarrhea (FGFR4).

Bridgebio wins accelerated approval for cholangiocarcinoma therapy

Little more than two months after inking a $2 billion-plus commercialization deal with Swiss oncology specialist Helsinn Group around the fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) inhibitor infigratinib, Bridgebio Pharma Inc.'s subsidiary, QED Therapeutics Inc., has won accelerated FDA approval for the therapy, to be marketed as Truseltiq. Approval for the oral medicine covers the treatment of patients with previously treated locally advanced chemotherapy-resistant bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) harboring an FGFR2 fusion or rearrangement as detected by an FDA-approved test.
