ABL lands £2B deal with GSK based on BBB passing drug platform

ABL Bio Inc. announced April 7 that it sealed a potential £2.075 billion (US$2.65 billion) license deal with GSK plc, granting GSK global rights to use ABL’s blood-brain barrier (BBB) penetrating bispecific antibody platform, Grabody-B, to develop multiple programs in the neurodegenerative disease arena. Under the terms signed April 5, ABL agreed to transfer Grabody-B-related technology and know-how to GSK, upon which GSK will assume responsibility for preclinical and clinical development, manufacturing and commercialization.

UCB-7853 shows promise for treating Parkinson’s disease

Ibio reports preclinical results for antibodies in cardiometabolic and obesity pipeline

Ibio Inc. has announced data from a non-GLP, nonhuman primate (NHP) pharmacokinetic (PK) study of IBIO-600, the company’s lead asset and a potentially best-in-class long-acting anti-myostatin antibody designed for subcutaneous administration. Results suggest the antibody could provide a significantly extended half-life in humans and a weight loss treatment option while preserving and promoting muscle growth.

Alzheimer’s drug Kisunla rejected by European regulators

Equillium Inc. is forging ahead with regulatory plans for itolizumab in first-line treatment of patients with acute graft-vs.-host disease (GVHD), despite a phase III disappointment. Shares of the La Jolla, Calif.-based firm (NASDAQ:EQ) closed March 27 at 46 cents, down 29 cents, or 39%, on top-line data from the Equator study testing itolizumab, which is designed to target the CD6-ALCAM signaling pathway.
