Hervolution Therapeutics ApS (formerly Inprother Aps) has announced a $11.7 million series A financing to support its work developing novel human endogenous retrovirus (HERV)-targeted immunotherapies to address diseases of aging.

Ottimo Pharma Ltd. is equipped to file an IND and take its lead bifunctional antibody into phase II development, after closing a $140 million series A. The round will accelerate development of jankistomig, which targets the PD-1 immune checkpoint whilst inhibiting tumor angiogenesis by neutralizing vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).

Taipei, Taiwan- and Watertown, Mass.-based Syncell recently raised $15 million in series A financing to advance its subcellular protein purification and spatial proteomics analysis product called Microscoop Mint, based on its Microscoop platform technology.

Nua Surgical Ltd. secured €6.5 million ($6.9 million) in series A financing to support regulatory clearance in the U.S. and early commercialization of its Stericision C-section retractor. The device is a self-retaining surgical retractor designed to improve outcomes for mothers undergoing a caesarean section.

Vaginal microbiome specialist Freya Bioscience ApS has added $11.8 million to its series A, bringing the total for the round to $50 million. Of the additional $11.8 million, $10.4 million comes from the Gates Foundation and is designated for the development of vaginal microbiome-based immunotherapies for treating bacterial vaginosis, a cause of preterm birth and other pregnancy complications.

Backed by AI technology, Aigen Sciences Inc. raised ₩12 billion (US$8.8 million) in a series A financing round to further advance its cancer and rare disease drug pipelines. Aigen said Oct. 16 that the series A round was joined by existing investors Partners Investment, Quad Investment Management and Medytox Venture Investment, as well new investors Premier Partners, K2 Investment Partners and Scale Up Partners.
