Ionctura SA closed a €80 million (US$86 million) series B round as it prepares to accelerate development of lead asset roginolisib in the treatment of uveal melanoma. That follows publication of phase Ib data showing roginolisib, an orally available allosteric modulator of the delta isoform of PI3K (phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate kinase), is distinguished from other drugs in this class, in being well-tolerated over long periods, with patients having been treated for up to 38 months.
Marea Therapeutics came out of stealth mode on June 18, after raising a combined $190 million through its series A and B financings. The series A round was led by Third Rock Ventures, and the series B round was led by Sofinnova Investments and co-led by Forbion, Perceptive Xontogeny Venture Fund and Venbio.
Grey Wolf Therapeutics Ltd. added $50 million to its series B, bringing the total for the round to $99 million and providing funding to expand the scope of an ongoing phase I/II trial of its lead antigen modulation program.
Altrubio Inc. secured up to $225 million in an oversubscribed series B financing round, led by BVF Partners LP. The full amount is dependent on Altrubio meeting certain undisclosed milestones. New investors RA Capital Management, Cormorant Asset Management and Soleus Capital, and existing investors Amoon Fund and Blackstone Multi-Asset Investing, as well as other new and existing investors, also participated in the financing round.
Synox Therapeutics Ltd. has raised $75 million in a series B round to fund phase III development of emactuzumab, an antibody in-licensed from Roche Holdings AG. The product, a colony stimulating factor 1 receptor inhibitor, was tested by Roche in a number of indications. Synox is taking it into a phase III registrational trial in tenosynovial giant cell tumor on the basis of phase II data showing an overall objective response rate of 71%.
Microbiome specialist Enterobiotix Ltd. has raised £27 million (US$34.2 million) in a series B round as it starts a phase II trial of EBX-102-02 in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome.
Antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) specialist Tubulis GmbH has closed a hefty €128 million (US$139.4 million) series B2 round, more than double the €60 million it raised in its series B1 two years ago.
